The Things that we

Love about

Sherwood Park

Sherwood Park at its Best!

Here are some of the reasons we fell in-love with our home...

Sherwood Park is located in Strathcona County, Alberta, Canada and is set off of the eastern side of the provincial capital of Edmonton. Although the community has a population of roughly 70,000 and could be recognized as a city it still remains a hamlet. Sherwood Park is largely a residential community that is considered to be ideally located in close proximity to a variety of industries which converts to shorter commute times for the people living here. The hamlet offers a safe family-friendly lifestyle with all the amenities, parks, green spaces and trails that a resident could wish for. People who choose not to drive can take advantage of the bus transit system with a 40-minute trip to downtown Edmonton from the Bethel Transit Terminal.

The community boasts over 20 parks with connecting walking/cycling trails and a public golf course for those wanting outdoor activities at their door step. There are several choices for the health and fitness conscious individuals seeking a local gym or the complete one stop shop recreation facility Millennium Place operated by Strathcona County. Independent personal trainers as well as trainers at one of the local facilities can guide you through all your personal training needs. Sherwood Park is also located in close proximity to the North Saskatchewan River that flows just north of the hamlet offering fishing, boating and hiking/biking trails for individuals wanting to experience a more natural setting.

Sherwood Park Walking Trails & Wetlands Photo Collection

If getting back to nature is important to you then Cooking Lake-Blackfoot Provincial Recreation Area, Ministik Lake Game Bird Sanctuary and Elk Island National Park are all within a short drive. These will provide day use or overnight camping for a wide variety of bird or wildlife watching, canoeing the expansive wetlands or exploring the seemingly endless trail systems. The outdoor activities are only limited by your imagination and they are all at your finger tips while in Sherwood Park.

In keeping on track with the family orientation of the community there are both public and catholic schools offering kindergarten to grade 12. There are also many options for the arts and culture enthusiast with the loft Gallery, Smeltzer House Centre for Visual Arts and the Spark Centre. Culture and History buffs may want to visit Bremner House, Festival place, Sherwood Park’s Heritage Mile or the Strathcona County Museum and Archives where there is something for all ages.

Sherwood Park boarders Refinery Row which is Canadas largest hydrocarbon refining cluster and is home to Suncor Energy Edmonton Refinery, Strathcona Refinery and Alberta Envirofuels Inc. The manufacturing, fabrication and many other oilfield industries are a key component of the economic growth in Alberta in which Sherwood Park is centrally located. This is to say that this hamlet and its surrounding communities offer great paying jobs and promising economic opportunities for all choosing to call Sherwood Park their home.
